Abstract
A new data-aided phase tracking detector for frequency-shifted DPSK signals is proposed in which the baseband frequency shift compensation technique of Choi and Lee (1997) is incorporated into the structure of data-aided phase tracking detection. Simulations show that the new detector outperforms the differential detector with perfect frequency-shift compensation for a wide range of frequency shifts, and even approaches the coherent detector in terms of its performance.
