Abstract

A microprocessor-based data acquisition system with a high-speed A/D and D/A interface is described. The system is connected to an HP9000 computer using the IEEE 488 general-purpose interface bus (GPIB), but is treated as a separate working system. Assembly-language programs have been written to communicate with the standard IEEE 488 commands sent by the HP9000. All the commands sent by the HP9000 are written in basic, allowing powerful data handling. The rate of data transmission to the HP9000 is about 33k samples s −1.
