Abstract
BackgroundIn a first step, a new MIH Treatment Need Index (MIH-TNI) has been developed by an international working group that covers the most important clinical problems occuring in patients with molar incisor hypomineralisation: the extent of destruction of the tooth structure and the possible presence of hypersensitivity. Based on this index, a regimen was developed in a second step, which should guide the clinician in treatment planning in patients with MIH in daily practice.RecommendationDepending on the individual caries risk of the patient and the MIH-TNI, different therapies can be recommended for the patient. The treatment plan, presented in this paper, covers the areas of prevention, regeneration, immediate treatment and longterm planning. Selected clinical examples will illustrate this treatment plan.
