Abstract

The Anniversary of the Reformation 1917 in the Fourth Year of War: A Critical Review from the Perspective of Present-Day Challenges. The details of how the anniversary was celebrated then are being put in relation to how we celebrate the anniversary 2017. What can we learn from the mistakes in the majority of the popular publications of 1917 in which Luther was not put in an ecumenical and international context, questions of modernity and democracy were ignored and questions of the religious legitimation of violence were not self-critically discussed?
