Abstract

This article begins with an exegetical analysis of Gal 4:21—31. The author establishes two lines of argument which deal with completely different aspects of Paul's distinction between Hagar and Sarah. In this text, Paul pursues a Christian identity management. Rom 9-11 is not a revision of Gal 4:21-31 but rather an eschatological extension of this text. In the end, this text demonstrates that Paul has failed to solve the Israel problem.
