Abstract
Stechimmen sind eine wehrhafte Gruppe von Hautflüglern: Bienen, Wespen und viele Ameisen besitzen einen Stachel, der darauf spezialisiert ist, ein potentes Gift in die Beute oder einen Feind zu injizieren. Ein groß angelegter Genomvergleich hat nun aber gezeigt, dass auch Hautflügler, die noch keinen Stachel besitzen, ein sehr ähnliches Gift produzieren. Parasitäre Pflanzenwespen manipulieren damit den Stoffwechsel von Nadelbäumen, in deren Holz sie ihre Eier ablegen.
