Abstract

Duane's retraction syndrome is characterised by unilateral or bilateral ocular motility disorders, globe retraction, and narrowing of the palpebral fissure on attempted adduction. It is important to recognize this syndrome as a differential diagnosis to sixth nerve palsy; it is easily identified by clinical examination of eye motility. Apart from special cases, there ist no need for costly investigations.
