Abstract
Triphenylplumbyllithium reacts with sulfur, selenium and tellurium, forming (C 6H 5) 3PbSLi (II), (C 6H 5) 3PbSeLi (III) and (C 6H 5) 3PbTeLi (IV), respectively. With benzoyl chloride, triphenyltin chloride and triphenyllead chloride, (II) forms (C 6H 5) 3PbSC(O)C 6H 5, (C 6H 5) 3PbSSn(C 6H 5) 3, and (C 6H 5) 3PbSPB(C 6H 5) 3, respectively. The reaction of (III) with triphenyltin chloride and triphenyllead chloride yields (C 6H 5) 3PbSeSn(C 6H 5) 3 and (C 6H 5) 3PbSePb(C 6H 5) 3. From (IV) and triphenyllead chloride, (C 6H 5) 3PbTePb(C 6H 5) 3 is formed. The properties of these new compounds and their stabilities are discussed.
