Abstract

The cladoceran fauna of salt lakes in Australia is tabulated. Only Moina and Daphniopsis spp. are important elements, and D. pusilla appears to be the most important species. Important diagnostic characters for the ephippia of D. pusilla are described (ephippia are the most commonly preserved cladoceran remains). Some ecological features concerning this species are also given. The most important is that adults occur between salinities of 3 and 60%, although salinities may greatly exceed 60% in localities from where the species has been recorded.
