Abstract

Dan Savino (Figure ​(Figure11) was born and raised in Rosario, Argentina. He received his medical degree from Rosario National University in 1972 and in 1975 migrated to the USA, where he trained in pathology in Phoenix, Arizona, St. Louis, Missouri, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, with some of the best in the profession. After completing his training at the University of Minnesota, he remained on the faculty for 2 years before coming to Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) in 1982. In 1989, Dr. Savino was appointed director of surgical pathology at BUMC, and he has been in that position ever since. Although Dr. Savino is extremely well rounded in all phases of surgical pathology, he has focused most on various conditions of the breast. Dr. Savino is a major player at BUMC, particularly as an active participant in the various conferences in BUMC's cancer institute. He is also a much-appreciated teacher and is always available to the residents and others for consultative purposes. He is married to the lovely Marta, and they have two outstanding children. Dr. Savino is one of the good guys with a very positive attitude and a continuous smile on his face.
