Abstract

In the short article by Wolf relating to plastic toy injury (Pediatrics, 32:594) the conclusion is reached: "the pediatrician . . . should warn parents against their purchase." This conclusion is unwarranted from the evidence presented of one child's injury. Shall we condemn forks, pencils, bikes, bats, plastic or otherwise, because of careless injury? Parents should be warned to teach care in the handling of toys to their children. It is the child's carelessness rather than the toy, plastic or otherwise, that causes injury.
