Abstract

This paper discusses the dangerous offender as conceived in Section 5 (a) and (b) of the Model Sentencing Act and compares some of the relevant provisions of the Act with those of the American Law Institute's Model Penal Code. It details some of the provisions of the Defective Delinquent Statute in Maryland and that state's procedure for commitment to Patuxent Institu tion. Habitual offender laws and sexual psychopath laws are also considered.
