Abstract
Those of you who live in cities and are part of multicultural communities will have opportunities to see, and perhaps take part in, many diverse celebrations, concerts and events from a wide range of cultures. Dance is often an important element in these events. If you look at the costumes, music, and basic type of movements from such events, and add in artwork and stories from myths and legends, and customs, you can bring exciting ideas into your sessions with young children. Those of you living in smaller or rural communities may have to search a little harder for material but there is often coverage on children's television programmes, such as Blue Peter, and libraries or arts organisations may be able to suggest relevant videos and books.
