Abstract
Dear Editor, I am a survivor and former dancer and have recently choreographed a 15-minute contemporary dance set to music with an introductory verbal narrative. The narrative is akin to how Bharatanatyam (classical Indian) dancers sometimes introduce their dances using specific hand gestures which denote the story of the dance. My own gestures symbolise specific voices.
