Abstract

This paper analyzes the damping effect of hydraulic turbine governor on ultra-low frequency oscillation (ULFO) based on damping torque analysis, comparing the damping of different operating modes of the governor. The ULFO of a hybrid power system is proposed, which consists of hydraulic and steam turbine. The eigenvalue analysis of state space matrix is used to deeply analyze the damping effect of key parameters of hydraulic turbine governing system on ULFO. The adjustment method of hydraulic turbine governor parameters considering both ULFO suppression and system transient frequency safety is proposed. The effectiveness of this method is verified based on a real power grid of China.
