Abstract

Pattern formation in nematics located in a rotating magnetic field have been investigated by computer simulation within the scope of the damped and driven sine-Gordon model suggested in [K.B. Migler and R.B. Meyer, Physica D 71 (1994) 412]. A mechanism of pattern formation has been proposed which is a result of driven instability of singular solutions - “defects” of vortex or source types.
