Abstract

The method of carbon nanotube thread sensors embedded in three-dimensional braided composites is proposed in this study. The optimization allocation principle of which carbon nanotube threads are embedded in three-dimensional braided composites is investigated. This study describes tensile strain sensing characteristics of carbon nanotube threads embedded in three-dimensional braided composites. The experimental results show that the method of real-time health monitoring of three-dimensional braided composites using carbon nanotube threads is feasible. It will provide the basis for construction of structural health monitoring system of three-dimensional braided composites using carbon nanotube threads.
