Abstract
Our Level III labor and delivery unit productivity was less than the 100% target rate. The charge nurses are responsible for staffing the unit to maintain quality and safety; however, they were unaware of the productivity concept and how staffing decisions affected our productivity score. This project is significant to the mission of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses by appropriately using a daily operational productivity tool, taking patient quality and safety into consideration.
