Dai Wangshu’s translations of contemporary Spanish poetry and its application to the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language

Abstract

This paper is intended to be a study of the translation of the contemporary Spanish poetry by the former Chinese poet Dai Wangshu, and how his translations are used in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language in China. Dai dedicated his most attention to the poems of the Generation of 27 and the romances of the Spanish Civil War. His love of Spanish poetry wasn't a coincidence but had much to do with his own aesthetic standards, attitude and experience. His translations, which are popular in China, can easily arouse young Chinese students' interest in Spanish poetry and literature, and lead them to the exploration of the original works, enhancing their comprehension of Spanish poems and improving their Spanish as a foreign language.

Introducción

Este artículo pretende investigar las traducciones que hizo Dai Wangshu de poesía española contemporánea. Diego no solo selecciona los poemas representativos de cada poeta, sino que también añade una biografía y una pequeña presentación de las obras poéticas, así que brinda a los lectores una oportunidad de tener un conocimiento más preciso de la poesía española contemporánea. Dai tradujo más: «En el sexto número del volumen tres de la revista La primavera y el otoño de la literatura y el arte publicó una serie de traducción completa que incluyó veinte romances españoles, pero desafortunadamente, debido a la guerra antijaponesa, no se guardó» (Xiao Feng, 2004: 5). Las traducciones de poesía española realizadas por Dai al chino constituyen una excelente muestra de la poesía española de la primera mitad del siglo XX pues el autor versionó las obras de los principales poetas españoles contemporáneos sin olvidar la poesía popular representada por los romances de la Guerra Civil.
