Abstract
The ltajai Group is made up of coarse and fine sediments lying on a granulite-migmatite shield, and forming a monoclinal structure partly bounded by faults. It has been ana1yzed mineralogically and isotopically. The age of the regional anchimetamorphic event, about 550 m.y. by both Rb-Sr and K-Ar methods applied to the fine fractions, indicate that the metamorphism of the Itajai Group was probably associated to the formation of plutonic rocks during the Brasiliano Orogenic Cycle.
