You imply that we should not publish material that could be used against a physician by an attorney. I understand the perspective from which you are addressing this issue, as I am a practicing surgeon as well as an editor. You may not have considered the ramifications of your comments, in the event that someone should take them seriously. Dr Loré's remarks are clearly identified as<i>his</i>opinions and nothing more. They deserve our thoughtful consideration, even if they seem unpalatable and offensive to you. By the same token, your remarks should be shared with our readers, because they are expressed clearly and because your opinion is also important.
