Abstract
Os resultados recentes da investigação sobre a rede viária romana no interior da Lusitânia sugerem nova análise sobre o itinerário Mérida-Braga, em especial na sua relação com a Serra da Estrela. A construção da ponte de Alcântara contribuiu para alterar um esquema viário em que o principal acesso à Serra se fazia a partir da via Emerita-Asturica, situando-se a ponte no cenário de promoção das civitates da região como factor determinante do desenvolvimento de uma densa rede viária centrada no eixo Mérida-Alcântara-Braga.
