Abstract

Nano-structured materials have been receiving Nanotechnology deals with the properties of structures and their components at nanoscale (atoms and molecules) dimensions. Nano-structured materials have created a new interesting field in all sciences for continuous investigations due to their unique properties. Nanoparticles have been used as one of the most effective antibacterial agents due to their large surface area to volume ratios. Nanoparticles can be used in dentistry as oral biofilm management, caries control, remineralization, management of dentinal hypersensivity, periodontal infection, root canal disinfection. However, certain nanoparticles may be toxic to oral tissues. For this reason, the effect of nanoparticles should be investigated in future studies. Nanotechnology will change dentistry, healthcare, and human life more profoundly than many developments of the past
