Abstract
Hypertension is an important risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and dementia. The efficacy of antihypertensive therapy, however, is still insufficient. Combination therapy of hypertension at least two drugs achieves the target blood pressure. The combination of perindopril and amlodipine is extensively studied well the combination of drugs, for which demonstrated a reduction in total mortality and cardiovascular events and stroke. The review explores molecular and clinical studies that might help explain the relation between the renin-angiotensin system, hypertension, and dementia and whether treatment with ACE inhibitor (perindopril) and CCB (amlodipine) have a part to play in the management of the disease.
