Abstract
“These who fear die every day. These who do not fear die only once” – these already famous words borrowed from William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar were often quoted by Giovanni Falcone. They have a completely new tone in reference to the events which took place in Sicily in 1992. This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of G. Falcone’s death who during his life became a symbol of an uncompromising fight with organized crime. This Italian judge was killed in the bomb attack on 23 May, 1992 on the motorway near Capaci; the attack was organized by Cosa Nostra. The aim of this article is not to write G. Falcone’s biography but to show the phenomenon of activities and achievements of the man who consciously steered and sacrificed his own life to fight with the mafia.
