Abstract
Purpose/Objective: ON01910 is a benzyl styryl sulfone that is a small molecule inhibitor of polo like kinase 1 (plk1) activity and demonstrates anti-cancer activity against a broad spectrum of cancer cell lines. Plk1 is induced in a variety of solid tumors, including head and neck, lung, pancreatic, prostate, cervix, endometrial and ovarian cancer. Plk1 is a target for DNA damage checkpoint and plays an important role in various stages of G2/M cell cycle progression, such as, activation of cyclin B/Cdc2, centrosome maturation, bipolar spindle formation and cytokinesis.
