Abstract

The concentrations of cytosolic estrogen (ER) and progestin (PR) receptors are not identical in hyperplastic endometrium from different regions of the uterus. These receptor concentrations are 20–25 and 40–50% lower in the middle and isthmic uterine segments, respectively, than in the fundal part of this organ. From the clinical point of view, the minor differences in receptor concentrations between fundal and middle segments of the uterine body do not argue against the use of endometrial specimens obtained by curettage for evaluation of the receptor status of the endometrium.
