Abstract

AbstractCytology of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is an important tool in the diagnosis of Central Nervous System pathologies. In this review, the major etiologies will be discussed, such as neurodegeneratives diseases, infectious and inflam- maroty diseases and tumoral diseases. Cytology remains the reference in the diagnosis of meningeal dissemination of tumor cells. Less invasive and allowing a fast diagnosis with rapid introduction of drugs, it has proven its relevance in routine practice. Its interpretation often requires comparison with clinical and other biological data.
