Abstract

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a recurrent inflammatory skin condition starting in the pilosebaceous unit and, then, progressing as a systemic inflammatory disease with a wide range of comorbidities (Conic et al., 2021). Currently, there is no definitive cure for HS, and available treatments aim only to manage/limit disease flares. The cytochrome P450 (CYPs) enzymes are crucial for the metabolism of drugs (Habano et al., 2015), thus variations in CYP enzymes can lead to skin diseases, metabolic syndromes, depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, addiction, and chronic pain (Hofer et al., 2013, Tennant, 2015).
