Abstract A description is provided for Cylindrocladium braziliensis . Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOST: Eucalyptus . DISEASE: Dieback of adult trees and damping-off of seedlings (31, 524). On leaves, spots are at first pale purple and later darken producing a necrotic centre defined by a narrow dark purple halo. Defoliation may be followed by death of entire plants (41, 414). GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Brazil. TRANSMISSION: Transmission by seeds has been reported (41, 104).
