Abstract

Radiative transitions of electrons between low-lying Landau levels and the ground state in high magnetic fields are investigated. The relevant transition rates are calculated in the framework of spinor electrodynamics. Analytical approximations for various cases are compared to numerical evaluations. Special attention is given to the X-ray emission and absorption lines in magnetic fields of the order of 400 MT. 9 references.
