Abstract

Two air, moisture and thermally stable cyclopalladated ferrocenylimine complexes with monophosphinobiphenyl ligands 4 and 5 have been easily synthesized. Their detailed structures are determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. Palladacycle 4 is found to be an anti, trans-complex, while 5 is a syn, trans-complex in the solid state. The two complexes could effectively catalyze the Suzuki reaction of aryl chlorides and phenylboronic acid with catalytic loadings of 0.0001–0.05 mol% in the presence of Cs 2CO 3 as base in dioxane at 100 °C, affording the coupled products in excellent yields.
