Abstract

The combination of allylsilanes and tungsten chlorides is shown to be a very effective catalyst for cyclo-olefin ring-opening polymerization. High- cis-polypentenamer was prepared between −20 and −78° by using WCl 6-tetraallylsilane catalytic system. The monomer polymer equilibrium has been studied for cis-polypentenamer in the −10 to −60° range. Some thermodynamic parameters of cyclopentene cis-polymerization have been determined on the basis of the equilibrium monomer concentrations.
