Abstract

2-Phenylethenyl- and 2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethenyl isothiocyanates undergo a 2 + 2 cycloaddition with N,N'-cyclohexylcarbodiimide to form 1,3-thiazetedine derivatives; this reaction takes place at the C=S bond of the isothiocyanate group. The olefinic C=C bond was not involved.
