Abstract
Treatment of N-aryl-N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-o-toluenesulfonamides with tert-butyllithium in the presence of TMEDA followed by addition of N,N-dimethylsulfamoyl chloride gave 2-aryl-3-tert-butoxycarbonyl-2,3-dihydro-1,2-benzisothiazole 1,1-dioxides in moderate yields accompanied by a rearrangement of a tert-butoxycarbonyl group.
