Abstract
It is recommended that one should estimate the reliability of an object consisting of a large number of elements of the same type from the weakest link. A method is proposed for calculating the cyclic cracking resistance characteristics Kfc and Kth and the parameters in the kinetic equation for crack growth C and n for such a weak link. The calculation is based on the resistance characteristics and the spread, in them as derived for an average element and is also dependent on the number of elements.
