Abstract

Industrial-IoT (IIoT) leverages smart digital industrial processes and plays key roles toward the success of Industry 4.0 or IR 4.0; its automation trend brings modern cloud computing, machine vision, and computational intelligence together. But the major success of this revolutionary technology depends on economic use of widely used low-power wireless sensor nodes. To assist with performance issues in network communication, this project proposes a new cluster-based and energy-economic routing protocol “REACT,” which balances optimum energy utilization of low-power sensors. Secure data and information transportation also another bottleneck behind the success of IR 4.0. The cyber-physical communication exposes Ethernet interfaces to be communicated with the cyber-systems, unlike the current Internet, where the physical systems kept hidden from application layers. To assist in cyber-secure physical interfaces, this report has modeled possible security of intelligent physical systems. While demonstrating the performance and security improvement, possible security and performance improvement bottlenecks are also addressed.
