Abstract

Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic microorganisms that may be found in a wide range of environments, from epiphytic communities to endolytic colonies. Cyanobacteria changed the atmosphere of the earth and can possibly direct life beyond earth. Cyanobacteria’s enormous genetic diversity, as well as the production of ecologically significant natural products, has piqued their attention. As a result, cyanobacteria, particularly those belonging to the orders Synechococcales, Oscillatoriales, Chroococcales, and Nostocales, are prospective therapeutic candidates for disorders including cancer, parasite infections, and inflammation. Marine cyanobacteria have been discovered to be a treasure mine of unique structural natural products using genomic and metabolic techniques such as mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy. The natural products of marine cyanobacteria are addressed in depth in this paper as marine biomolecules.
