Abstract

Abstract 3-Cyclodextrin (CD), as well as γ-CD, enhances dimerization of some cyanine dyes, as revealed by the enhancement of dimer band in absorption spectra. The presence and absence of enhancement are governed by geometrical factors, i.e., the length of central methine chain and the size of the chromophore at each end.
