Abstract

ABSTRACT Sporotrichosis is an infection caused by a dimorphic fungus. Typically transmitted through inoculation of contaminated foliage, this disease is seen primarily in farmers or garden workers. The initial manifestation is a single papule at the sight of trauma. The differential diagnosis includes diseases with localized eruptions and lymphangitic spread. Cases caused by zoonotic transmission through felines have also been rising in Brazil. We report this case of a woman who contracted sporotrichosis via cat scratches.
