Abstract

Cutaneous mixed tumor (CMT) is an uncommon sweat gland tumor composed of a mixture of epithelial cells and mesenchymal tissue. Histologically, two types of CMT can be recognized: eccrine and apocrine types [1]. Eccrine CMTs are characterized by the presence of small tubules lined by single layers of epithelium devoid of ‘decapitation’ secretion, whereas apocrine ones are characterized by the presence of large gland-like spaces lined by double layers of epithelium, decapitation secretion, and follicular and sebaceous differentiation.
