Abstract
To the Editor: The authors thank Dr. Vadmal for bringing this interesting case to our attention and for adding it to the world literature. The clinical presentation (i.e., recent onset in a teenage girl) is classic and adds support to the Müllerian heterotopia theory. The location and pathologic features appear to be strikingly similar to those described in our case report (1). As for terminology, this is not really an issue as we actually agree with Dr. Vadmal. The term cutaneous Müllerian cyst was coined by Kubran & Bhawan (2), who have stressed that the term cutaneous ciliated cyst (CCC) is too vague. Although we agree with them in principle and we echoed this sentiment in our paper, the fact remains that for diagnostic purposes, the term CCC is widely used and recognized. Hence, when facing the dilemma of which term to use in the title of the paper (1), we chose CCC. Daniel G. Fontaine, M.D. James R. Wright Jr., M.D., Ph.D.
