Abstract

Present paper describes a rare case of cutaneous capillary haemangioma in a white Pekin duck (Anas platyrhinchos domesticus). Grossly, tumour mass was of 5 cm in diameter, soft, reddish, ulcerated and localized near the axilla of left hind limb. Histological examination revealed thickened dermis and variable sized blood filled vascular lumina, numerous sprouting capillaries and vascular clefts lined by flat to plump endothelial cells. Normal histological architecture of dermal collagen was lost and little amount of collagen was retained in the dermis along with proliferating blood vasculature. Multiple areas of ulcerations were seen with loss of superficial epidermis and adenexal structures. The case was diagnosed as cutaneous capillary haemangioma and considered rare.
