Abstract
Alternaria species are fungi characterized by the presence of brown or black pigment in their cell wall. They are common in the environment (soil, water, plants) as saprophytic fungi. They may rarely act as facultative pathogens, especially in the presence of immunosuppression, causing cutaneous infections with rare systemic involvement [1].
