Abstract

This article discusses how the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission created a Community Outreach Program (COP) to meet customer needs during service disruptions. Within the COG, the Emergency Outreach Program (EOP) was created to provide support to customers during water main breaks and sewer overflow or backup events. The evolution of these programs is outlined in the article, and a listing of the services provided in an emergency by the EOP is given.
