Abstract
This paper describes a method to obtain the curvature and twist patterns of a bending plate by combining optical carrier technique and digital image processing. A carrier consisting of parallel fringes is obtained in double-exposure by changing the illumination form so that the deflection of the plate is recorded as the modulation to the carrier frequency. After optical filtering the modulated carrier is input into a digital image processing system to generate a grey image of ‘deformed grating’, whose digital differentiation can be used to obtain the curvature patterns or the twist patterns.
