Abstract

A new sum rule expressing the β-decay axial vector renormalization constant g A in terms of circularly polarized photon scattering cross sections by polarized nucleons has been derived on basis of an equal-time commutation relation between spatially integrated electrical currents. Based upon this sum rule, it is possible in principle to check validities of various models of elementary particles. Also, it has been pointed out that models assuming fundamental boson fields may be experimentally ruled out.
