Abstract
In this paper, we report the successful fabrication and current-voltage characteristics of the YBa2Cu3O7 step-edge Josephson junctions on MgO substrates. Our junctions were fabricated by patterning the laser deposited YBa2Cu3O7 thin film on MgO substrates with ion-milled steps. Integer Shapiro steps were observed in the I–V characteristics up to 1 THz under 72 GHz external microwave irradiation. We also estimated the effective shunting capacitance from the voltage of the Fiske resonance observed.
