Abstract

Current–voltage ( J– V) and differential-conductivity–voltage (d J/d V– V) characteristics are analytically calculated at zero temperature for a tunnel junction: a Peierls conductor (P) and a normal metal (N) separated by an insulator (I). Here P is a conductor with charge density wave (CDW). The J– V and d J/d V– V characteristics depend on CDW phase ( ϕ) for P–I–N junction in the mean field approximation. The differential conductivity d J/d V has a root singularity at eV= Δ for ϕ≠0, where Δ is the energy gap of P. The relation J( V, ϕ)=− J(− V, ϕ+ π) is obtained.
