Abstract

Both internal brachytherapy and external beam pelvic radiotherapy for the treatment of malignancies involve a high risk of chronic vaginal stenosis. Maintenance of vaginal patency can be accomplished by regular sexual activity or vaginal dilation. However, compliance with vaginal dilator use has proven to be an ongoing problem. There is currently no formal standard of recommendation, and a definite lack of literature in the field. This study sought to understand the national standard.
